Teaching Kids To Meditate Supercharges Their Learning and Their Life

Even four year-olds benefit greatly from meditation.
Even four year-olds benefit greatly from learning meditation.

Is your child . . .

  • Positively interested in learning and the world – or a reluctant starter?
  • Able to handle making mistakes – or good a diverting and escaping from challenging situations?
  • Good at sticking to a task – or easily bored?
  • Emotionally resilient – or easily frustrated?

Why teach my child to meditate?

Meditation promotes self-awareness so it is a great way to help your child cope with the inevitable mental, physical, emotional and social problems they encounter as they grow up.

Self-awareness also promotes improved concentration, memory and emotional stamina, all of which will improve your child’s learning ability, making school easier and more enjoyable.

When should I start teaching my child how to meditate?

Most teenagers benefit greatly from meditation.

I encourage parents to start meditating with their children from about the age four years old. Usually by this age, children are beginning to understand that other people have thoughts and feelings like they do, so they are ready to start building a conscious awareness of the mental processes going on inside their own developing minds.

No matter how old your child is, start with short and simple meditations that build self-awareness. Move on to more advanced meditations as they develop their mental and emotional skills.

How do I teach my child to meditate?

Children and adults learn how to meditate with ease using guided meditations.

When you teach your child to meditate you should meditate with them until they choose to do them on their own.

The easiest way for children and adults to learn how to meditate is to use recordings of guided meditations so all you have to do is find somewhere comfortable to sit and listen to the recordings on your phone or other device. I have made a large number of guided meditations that are suitable for both children and adults to learn how to meditate, and to continue their meditation practice. You can get access to these in my online course. Try this one now. It is called: “Say Hello to Yourself”
