A variety of different methods have been used to teach reading since 1950, some of which were more successful than others. If you are a slow reader, or you have trouble remembering what you have read, you may have some basic weaknesses in your reading style because of the way you were taught to read in the first place. You may also have problems with spelling for the same reason. We can assess your basic reading and spelling skills to determine your strengths and weaknesses, and so prepare a program to fix up any problem areas.
Advanced Reading Skills
If you have difficulty understanding or remembering more complex material such as reports, journals and textbooks, we will need to assess your advanced reading skills. Here we examine three main areas - we ascertain your reading speed, we assess the depth of your comprehension, and we determine the techniques you use when reading different sorts of material.
Basic Reading Skills
If you have difficulty reading words and sentences, we would need to assess your basic reading and language processing skills. Poor spelling skills is another indicator that you may need to have your basic reading skills assessed.
After the assessment session we will be able to give you a clear explanation of what you need to do to improve your reading.
