Mathematics is the language of technology and so good skills in maths are going to be very important to your child's progress in life. By the start of grade 7, children should be-
- virtually automatic with tables,
- able to do fast and accurate addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
with whole numbers, fractions and decimals,
- able to do simple word problems, and
- able to explain the meaning of mathematical terms in clear English.
If you would like to ensure that your child excels in maths, contact us so we can show you how to make maths easy, interesting, and fun.
One final point about expectations - do not expect your child to have problems with maths because you did. Problems with mathematics are not generally hereditary. Low expectations by parents can become a self-fulfilling prophecy, affecting the child's attitude to learning mathematics, and so limiting his/her progress.
