| Primary education has two roles, one is to socialise our children so they can live successfully in our society, and the other is to provide them with basic learning and communication skills, otherwise known as the 3 R's.
Early warning signs that a child is experiencing difficulties with these basic skills include:
- not wanting to read books
- difficulty reading longer words
- poor spelling
- inability to remember tables without regular revision
- problems with homework
- stress or emotional problems
If you are concerned about any of these areas, we strongly recommend that your child has a diagnostic assessment as soon as possible. This way you will be able to find out what is causing the problem. Obviously, the earlier problems are dealt with, the easier they are to fix. You will also minimise the amount of school work that is missed due to the inability to learn effectively in class.
