Maths
Maths is one of the easiest subjects at school to master, provided that it is learned the right way.
  • Firstly, the child needs to understand a set of basic concepts and be able to apply them in real life situations.
  • Secondly, the child must learn how to rote learn certain number facts such as tables, so that they can be remembered in the long term.

You can help these things develop at home by encouraging practical activities which involve maths such as - playing card games, playing board games involving dice, doing craft work, and even cooking.

If your child is experiencing difficulties or you would like detailed advice on how to ensure your child excels in maths, make an appointment so we can show you and your child how maths can be easy, interesting, and fun.

One final point about expectations - do not expect your child to have problems with maths because you did. Problems with mathematics are not generally hereditary. Low expectations by parents can become a self-fulfilling prophecy, affecting the child's attitude to learning mathematics, and so limiting his or her progress.
