My name's Dun·can· Gra·ham·. I stu·died· with Chris Brooks in a·round· 1990 and did a year's worth of Con·cept· ma·pping· with him. I think I was in a·bout· Year 11 at the time and it gave me get great skills to get a good o·ver·view· of the know·ledge· I was try·ing· to ma·ster·. At the time I re·mem·ber· a·pply·ing· it me·cha·ni·ca·lly·, but to great e·ffect·. At the time I went from a B, B+ stu·dent·, o·cca·sio·na·lly· A stu·dent·, which was at the time use·ful· be·cause· I was try·ing· to get in·to· Me·di·cine·, and it helped me a·chieve· that.
Al·though·, I think the grea·test· be·ne·fit· I've got from it has been some·time· down the track - af·ter· I had been to u·ni· - I used it there as well, still a·pply·ing· it a li·ttle· bit me·cha·ni·ca·lly·, but it was more a part of my a·pproach· to stu·dy· in that I di·dn't· have to use it so me·cha·ni·ca·lly·, but it was in·grained· in the way I ac·tu·a·lly· a·pproached· my rea·ding· and my stu·dy·.
And then, slow·ly·, it has be·come· how I think re·a·lly· . . . not the way I think, but the way I a·pproach· thin·king·, would be a be·tter· way of pu·tting· it. And I'm now a wri·ter· - I write for the the·a·tre· - and it gives me great be·ne·fits· in that I am a·ble· to see ve·ry· qui·ckly· the way in which a sto·ry· can un·fold·, and the va·ri·ous· points of view wi·thin· a sto·ry·, and so it gives me re·a·lly· use·ful· tools to a·pproach· a cha·rac·ter·.
It's such a won·der·ful· thing in my life, and I'm ve·ry· grate·ful· for the o·ppor·tu·ni·ty· to learn such a great skill.
